        "content": "<p>Tarmidi obeys party, backs Sutiyoso<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: City Council Deputy Chairman Tarmidi Suhardjo from<br>\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, who earlier opposed<br>\nthe reelection of Governor Sutiyoso, ended his \"battle\" on<br>\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\"I will attend the inauguration of Sutiyoso. I will shake his<br>\nhand,\" Tarmidi, who was also a gubernatorial candidate in the<br>\nrecent election, told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Tarmidi, who paired with Abdillah Toha from the National<br>\nMandate Party (PAN) as his deputy governor, only secured 13 votes<br>\nwhile Sutiyoso secured 47 votes.<\/p>\n<p>With Tarmidi's acceptance, it was only PAN, the Justice Party<br>\nand the Crescent and Star Party who were still refusing to accept<br>\nthe results of the controversial election.<\/p>\n<p>It was believed Tarmidi gave in due to pressure from his<br>\nparty's central board, which had threatened him with sanctions<br>\nfor disobeying orders to support Sutiyoso.
