        "content": "<p>The utilisation of tapioca industry waste as a renewable energy\nsource is being promoted in Lampung Province. This move was marked by\nthe signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT ESGIN\nGlobal Partners, the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian\nFarmers Association (HKTI) of Lampung Province, and the Indonesian\nTapioca Flour Entrepreneurs Association (PPTTI) to develop a green\neconomy ecosystem based on agriculture and agro-industry.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration is directed towards developing methane emission\nreduction projects in the tapioca flour processing industry through\nmethane capture technology. Liquid waste from cassava processing will be\nutilised to produce biogas as renewable energy, which will not only\nreduce greenhouse gas emissions but also has the potential to generate\ncarbon credits as a value-added source for the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the industrial sector, the collaboration also targets the\nagricultural sector through the implementation of Climate Smart\nAgriculture (CSA), the use of biochar, and the Alternate Wetting and\nDrying (AWD) method in paddy fields. This approach aims to increase\nagricultural productivity, maintain soil health, and strengthen\nresilience to climate change, while simultaneously suppressing\ngreenhouse gas emissions. Through this scheme, farmers are also expected\nto have opportunities to benefit from the Carbon Economic Value\nmechanism.<\/p>\n<p>All project developments will be supported by a Digital Measurement,\nReporting, and Verification (Digital MRV) system utilising Artificial\nIntelligence (AI), satellite imagery, the Internet of Things (IoT),\ndrones, digital dashboards, and blockchain technology to ensure that\nemission measurement and reporting are conducted transparently in\naccordance with both national and international standards.<\/p>\n<p>Lampung was selected as the initial implementation site due to its\nstrong agricultural and agro-industrial base. The province is the\nlargest producer of cassava in Indonesia, with an annual production of\napproximately 7.5 million tonnes, and serves as one of the national\ncentres for the tapioca flour processing industry. These conditions are\nconsidered to provide significant opportunities for developing a green\neconomy model based on agricultural commodities.<\/p>\n<p>Yayang Ruzaldy, Vice President &amp; Indonesia Regional Head of PT\nESGIN Global Partners, stated that the project development is not only\noriented towards emission reduction but also opens opportunities for\ngreen investment that provides economic benefits to the agricultural and\nindustrial sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLampung possesses all the foundations to become a centre for the\nagriculture-based green economy in Indonesia. ESGIN is committed to\ninvesting in strategic projects that provide both economic and\nenvironmental benefits, ranging from Climate Smart Agriculture and\nbiochar to the Methane Removal Project in the tapioca flour processing\nindustry,\u201d said Yayang.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the integration of investment, digital technology,\ngreen financing, and carbon trading is expected to create a development\nmodel that increases farmer welfare, strengthens industrial\ncompetitiveness, and supports national emission reduction targets.<\/p>\n<p>As a follow-up, the parties will prepare feasibility studies,\nidentify priority locations, draft carbon project documents, implement\nDigital MRV, and prepare green financing schemes to accelerate the\nrealisation of investment in the agriculture and agro-industry\nsectors.<\/p>",
