Tangerang regent to be sued<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): A candidate for the head of Ketapang village
\nplans to sue Tangerang Regent Agus Djunara for canceling the
\nvillage head election.<\/p>\n
Candidate Buang Budiman said on Wednesday he would file a
\nlawsuit against Agus at the State Administrative Court in Bandung
\nto get back the money he had spent to get elected.<\/p>\n
\"I suffered great losses from the cancellation, as I had spent
\nmillions of rupiah to treat my supporters during the election
\ncampaign,\" Buang said.<\/p>\n
He said the cancellation decree was issued by the regent on
\nNov. 12, 1998, but on the same day another decree confirming the
\nlist of candidates for the election was also issued.<\/p>\n
\"It was strange that two contradictory decrees were issued on
\nthe same day,\" he said.<\/p>\n
According to the decree on the list of candidates, he said,
\nvillage head elections would be held in 116 villages throughout
\nthe regency.<\/p>\n
But the other decree canceled elections at 15 of the villages,
\nhe said.<\/p>\n
The 15 villages were Ketapang, Tanjung Anom, Sukadamai,
\nBudimulya, Setu, Muncul, Rawa Mekarjaya, Cirumpak, Mekar Baru,
\nKlutuk, Gandaria, Ranca Buaya, Sukamanah, Kutajaya and
\nRawarengas.<\/p>\n
The regency's administrative affairs head, Kusnadi, explained
\non Wednesday that the elections at the 15 villages were actually
\nnot canceled, but were postponed for security reasons.<\/p>\n
\"How can a safe election be held if a meeting about the
\nelection preparations at the village office is protested by local
