The government of Tangerang District is allocating a budget of Rp341\nbillion to repair damaged roads in its territory. Tangerang Regent\nMochamad Maesyal Rasyid stated that repair work would begin in April,\n\u201cearlier compared to last year which only started in July,\u201d Maesyal told\nTempo on Monday, 9 March 2026.<\/p>\n
A number of priority road sections targeted for repair include\nPakuhaji Main Road, Pasar Kemis Main Road and Cadas-Kukun Road.\nAccording to Maesyal, the Rp341 billion budget is insufficient, as the\ntotal budgetary requirement to repair all roads in Tangerang District\nreaches Rp1.5 trillion.<\/p>\n
Because the allocation is insufficient to fully finance repairs, road\nimprovements will be carried out in stages. The repairs are also\nsupported by drainage development to prevent water pooling at vulnerable\nlocations.<\/p>\n
The funds for road repairs come from the District Budget Revenue and\nExpenditure (APBD) allocation of Rp181 billion purely for roads and\nbridges. Additionally, there is an extra Rp160 billion from the budget\nreallocation, bringing the total road repair budget to Rp341\nbillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cI ask that people be patient, because damaged roads in Tangerang\nDistrict will soon be repaired; everything proceeds in stages,\u201d said\nMaesyal.<\/p>\n
Maesyal explained that the new APBD was only approved by the\nTangerang District Regional Representative Assembly in December 2025,\nand road repair tendering began in February 2026. \u201cThe public wants\nquick repairs. Yet everything has stages and procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Maesyal stated that the Tangerang District Government\ndoes not wish to violate regulations by rushing\u2014repairing roads\u2014as this\nwould risk breaching rules. \u201cWe repair according to regulation,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of Road and Water Resources Development for\nTangerang District Government, Iwan Firmansyah, explained that road\nmanagement handling has three components: routine maintenance, emergency\nrepairs, and permanent reconstruction.<\/p>\n
According to Iwan, his department has conducted routine maintenance,\nbut due to the intensity of the rainy season, roads are eroded by rain.\n\u201cWe have patched potholes,\u201d he said. However, if a patch-pothole-patch\napproach continues to be used, conditions will not improve. \u201cPatching\nholes continuously like that, when hit by standing water, holes appear\nagain,\u201d said Iwan.<\/p>\n
Tangerang District Government has also carried out budget\nreallocation or strategy for diverting or adjusting government spending\npriorities. \u201cBudget allocations that were not critical were redirected\nfor road repairs including Pasar Kemis and Pakuhaji roads,\u201d said\nIwan.<\/p>\n
According to the Presidential Regulation on procurement of goods and\nservices, approximately 45 days are required from preparation process\nthrough contract signing. One of the infrastructure allocated for repair\nis Pasar Kemis market road.<\/p>\n
Iwan explained that his office has patched roads due to emergency\nconditions such as on Cikupa Road, Kedaton Road and Pasar Kemis Road, as\nwell as other road sections across Tangerang District\u2019s 29\nsub-districts.<\/p>\n
Iwan also reported that Tangerang District has 100 kilometres of\nroads classified as provincial roads, meaning development, repairs and\nmaintenance fall under the responsibility of the provincial\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
Tangerang District has district-classified roads spanning 1,096.26\nkilometres with good condition representing 76 percent; the remaining 24\npercent\u2014approximately 260 kilometres\u2014are in poor condition. The national\nstandard for road condition is 70 percent good condition and a minimum\nof 30 percent poor condition.<\/p>\n
