Traders at Jakarta's Taman Puring Market are pressing Governor Pramono Anung to fulfil revitalisation promises made after a fire 10 months ago, despite his current absence due to Hajj. They report no direct engagement from city or provincial authorities since the incident and demand transparent dialogue over plans for a disabled-friendly park, which they say remain unimplemented.

Traders at Taman Puring Market in South Jakarta have stated their
readiness to dialogue with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung regarding
plans to build a disabled-friendly park in the area. ‘Essentially, we
are still holding the Governor to his promises, as previously pledged –
revitalisation and assistance, which were supposed to be improved. We’ve
been waiting here for 10 months,’ said Asmun, coordinator of Taman
Puring Market traders, during a meeting at the market on Monday.

He added that traders are still operating as usual despite the
makeshift conditions following a fire approximately 10 months ago.
According to Asmun, the traders are still awaiting the implementation of
revitalisation promises previously communicated by the Jakarta Governor
through various media outlets. To date, he noted, there have been no
direct meetings between traders and city or provincial authorities since
the fire occurred. ‘Since the fire, there hasn’t been a meeting with the
Mayor, let alone the Governor, who hasn’t visited us in 10 months,’
Asmun stated.

‘That’s just talk for Cidodol and Mampang. The reality here is
nothing has been done; we’re still selling as usual,’ he added. The
traders are urging the Jakarta Provincial Government to open direct
dialogue channels to understand their on-ground situation. Asmun also
affirmed that traders are willing to discuss urban planning, including
the disabled-friendly park project, provided there is clear
communication aligned with the revitalisation commitments made. ‘We are
holding the Governor to his promises along with the other traders,’ he
said.

In addition to their demands, Taman Puring traders also extended
prayers and congratulations to Governor Pramono Anung, who is currently
performing the Hajj pilgrimage. Currently, 180 traders remain at the
former fire site of Taman Puring Market. Before the incident on 28 July
2025, the market housed over 500 traders.
",
