Talks on new energy soon<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An international conference on renewable energy
\nand energy efficiency will be held at the Jakarta Convention
\nCenter from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16, an official has said.<\/p>\n
Director General of Electricity and Energy Development Endro
\nUtomo Notodisuryo said early this week that the objective of the
\nconference was to exchange information on energy use among the
\nAsia-Pacific countries.<\/p>\n
It also aimed to promote the use of renewable energy sources
\nand energy efficiency in the region, Endro said.<\/p>\n
"Privatization issues in the energy sector will be among the
\ntopics of discussion at the conference," he said.<\/p>\n
According to Endro, the conference will be attended by 400
\nparticipants from across the region, including energy ministers
\nof different countries and leading figures in environmental and
\nfinancial sectors.<\/p>\n
He said the conference would be organized by the United
\nStates' Asia-Pacific Initiative for Renewable Energy and Energy
\nEfficiency and the Indonesian government and was scheduled to be
\nofficially opened by President Soeharto at Merdeka Palace on Oct.
