Nasaruddin acknowledged the\nmoment requires special arrangements given Nyepi\u2019s demand for total\nsilence, while takbiran on the night is traditionally associated with\nthe recitation of takbir and communal activity.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m also reporting that preparations for Eid are underway because\nMarch 19 is Nyepi Day. Nyepi requires no loud noises, no vehicles and so\non, even though our friends will be performing takbir that night,\u2019 he\ntold reporters at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday (4 March).<\/p>\n
He said the government has coordinated with local governments and\nBali community leaders to find common ground. The result is that\ntakbiran will be allowed with restrictions so as not to disrupt\nNyepi.<\/p>\n
\u2018We have reported to the President that there is a consensus with the\nlocal government and Bali community leaders that takbir does not\nconflict with Nyepi, but the condition is that Nyepi proceeds and takbir\nalso proceeds, but without a sound system and the timing is limited from\n6 to 9 p.m.\u2019<\/p>\n
Besides Nyepi, Nasaruddin also touched on the possibility of a\ndifferent determination of Eid al-Fitr this year. He stressed that such\ndifferences are not new and will be decided through the government\u2019s\nisbat session.<\/p>\n
\u2018Eid al-Fitr\u2019s date difference is something we accept as normal in\nIndonesia. We will see when the isbat session determines exactly when\nEid will come,\u2019 Nasaruddin said.<\/p>\n
