Taiwan\u2019s International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) is\nencouraging stronger technology cooperation with Indonesia, especially\nin the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor\nsectors.<\/p>\n
ICDF Secretary General Yu-Lin Huang said Indonesia has favourable\nconditions for developing high technology, given the growth of AI data\ncentres and investment by Taiwanese companies.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor technology cooperation, this is the right time for us to\nstrengthen it. We need to enhance our relationship through technology\ncooperation,\u201d Huang said.<\/p>\n
The statement was made by Huang during a meeting with a media\ndelegation under Taiwan\u2019s New Southbound Policy (NSP) framework at the\nICDF office in Taipei on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor AI and semiconductors, I know there are many AI data centres in\nIndonesia. You already have several AI data centres in Indonesia,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Huang noted that a number of Taiwanese companies have invested in\nIndonesia, and expressed hope that relations between Taiwan and\nIndonesia can be strengthened to facilitate technology cooperation in\nthe future.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndonesia is generally in a very good condition to further develop\nhigh technology. And I hope our relationship (Taiwan and Indonesia) can\nbe strengthened in such a way as to facilitate our technology\ncooperation in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the area of food security, Huang said the ICDF is working with\nHasanuddin University in South Sulawesi on the development of new maize\nvarieties.<\/p>\n
The cooperation is carried out through a feed maize seed industry\ndevelopment project running until December 2028. The project aims to\nbuild a commercial hybrid maize seed production model and a domestic\nhybrid seed supply chain, with a target of domestic F1 flint-type maize\nseed usage reaching 22.5 percent in South Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom farm to market, that is also very important. You can see that\nhigh-quality produce from farmers is accepted by high-end chain stores.\nSo, it is more profitable for farmers to sell their products directly to\nthe market,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The approach is also applied through an agribusiness incubation and\nmarketing project in West Java that helps farmers improve production\ntechnology, supply chain management, and access to processed food\nmarkets.<\/p>\n
The project, which runs until December 2028, targets a 75 percent\nincrease in sales value for participating agribusinesses through\nimproved competitiveness and product added value. The project also opens\nopportunities for technology transfer and business matching for\nTaiwanese small and medium enterprises in Indonesia\u2019s agribusiness\nsector.<\/p>\n
