Taipei trade office gets new head<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Taipei government has appointed David Lin to
\nreplace Sui Chi Lin as head of its Economic and Trade Office in
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
Sui ended his term on Tuesday, while Lin was expected to
\narrive on Wednesday, the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in
\nJakarta said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The 53-year-old new representative of Taipei's trade mission
\nreceived his bachelor's degree in commerce from the National
\nCheng-chi University in Taipei.<\/p>\n
He earned a master's degree in commerce from the same
\nuniversity. He continued his studies in Washington D.C., where he
\nearned his Master of Science from Georgetown University's School
\nof Foreign Service.<\/p>\n
Lin has served as a staff member at Taiwan's Ministry of
\nForeign Affairs, as well as third and second secretary at
\nTaiwan's embassy in South Africa.<\/p>\n
He was the deputy director general of the Department of
\nEuropean Affairs before being appointed Director General of the
\nTaipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, Texas. Subsequent
\npositions were postings as ambassadors to Grenada and St.
\nVincent.<\/p>\n
Prior to his Jakarta posting, Lin was the director general of
\nthe Department of European Affairs. -- JP<\/p>",
