The Badung Regency Government has mobilised all regional\norganisations (OPD) to conduct data collection, socialisation, and\nstrict supervision regarding the Source-Based Waste Management\nAcceleration Action in villages, starting Sunday, 8 March 2026. This\nstep obliges waste management to be completed from households to\nbusiness units before entering onward processing facilities.<\/p>\n
This effort is in line with the policy of the Ministry of Environment\n(LH) which does not allow organic waste to be taken to the Suwung Final\nWaste Processing Facility (TPA), Denpasar, as of 1 April 2026.\nConsequently, the Badung Regency Government is using the remaining time\nto consolidate and socialise to ensure that sorting really operates\nacross the entire community.<\/p>\n
Acting Head of the Badung Environmental and Sanitation Service\n(DLHK), Made Rai Warastuthi, emphasised that the core of the programme\nis early sorting and processing from the source.<\/p>\n
\u201cSource-Based Waste Management is a system of management that starts\nfrom the site of waste generation through sorting, processing, and\nreduction of waste before it is transported to onward processing\nfacilities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The targets of this action cover all strata, from households,\nbusiness units, communities, educational institutions, traditional\nmarkets, to public facilities across all villages and urban villages in\nBadung.<\/p>\n
Not merely a call, the Badung Regency Government is also conducting\nmassive data collection on independently managed waste processing\nfacilities owned by residents, such as modern composters, compost bins,\nand the like. Rai explained that the daily volume of waste managed\nindependently is now monitored via a digital system.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll data are gathered through the Asper PSBS system, which can be\naccessed via the PSBS Badungkab website to ensure data availability and\naccuracy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Badung Regency divides the mentoring areas, which are directly\nsupervised by expert staff and the deputy regional secretary (Sekda)\nassistants to ensure the programme continues. Each OPD is assigned to\noversee and be deployed in every sub-district (kecamatan).<\/p>\n
Earlier, Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa reminded that the Suwung\nTPA in Denpasar will be limited to receiving only residual waste from 1\nApril 2026 and will be officially closed completely on 1 August 2026.\nThe policy requires all villages and urban communities in Badung to\nimmediately shift waste processing focus entirely from the upstream or\nhousehold level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe implementation of source-based waste sorting must be conducted\nat every household. I am confident Badung can implement upstream waste\nsorting. The synergy between the Badung Regency Government and our\nvillage apparatus is hoped to remain intact,\u201d Adi Arnawa said during a\nwaste management coordination meeting with village, urban village, and\ncustomary village officials at the Badung Puspem (Government Centre) on\nFriday, 6 March 2026.<\/p>\n
This firmness is to peak on 1 August when all access for disposing of\norganic waste and residues will be sealed off.
