The East Jakarta City Government is enforcing strict digital oversight of civil servants (ASN) working from home (WFH) through an integrated system that monitors attendance and performance in real-time, ensuring discipline and productivity remain intact. On Fridays, when WFH is implemented nationally for ASN starting 1 April 2026, 68 out of approximately 680 ASN in East Jakarta participated, with the system facilitating evaluations to maintain public service quality. This policy, coordinated by ministers including Airlangga Hartarto, extends recommendations to the private sector via labour ministry circulars, aiming for flexible work without compromising efficiency.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta City Government has emphasised
that oversight of civil servants (ASN) implementing the work from home
(WFH) policy is conducted rigorously through an integrated digital
system.

“Oversight is already using a system. The personnel division handles
everything, from attendance to reporting. So, everything is
well-structured,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin at the East Jakarta
Mayor’s Office on Friday.

This oversight is applied to ensure that employee discipline and
performance remain maintained even when working outside the office.

Munjirin explained that the WFH oversight mechanism is under the
control of the personnel division. From attendance to performance
reporting, it is all done online using a system prepared by the
government.

According to him, the use of this system allows for real-time
monitoring of ASN activities. Thus, there is no room for employees to
neglect their duties even if not working in the office.

Munjirin outlined that the system also facilitates the evaluation of
ASN performance during WFH implementation. The recorded data can serve
as a reference for leaders in assessing employee productivity and
discipline.

During the WFH implementation on Friday, 68 ASN were recorded as
working from home. This number is a small portion of the total
approximately 680 ASN in the East Jakarta City Government
environment.

“With the existing system, we ensure that performance remains
controlled and public services are not disrupted,” said Munjirin.

The East Jakarta City Government is committed to continuously
optimising this oversight system, in line with the implementation of
flexible work patterns.

Periodic evaluations will also be conducted to ensure that the WFH
policy runs effectively without reducing the quality of public
services.

As is known, the government has officially implemented the work from
home (WFH) policy for ASN every Friday.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that
the policy will apply starting 1 April 2026 and will be evaluated after
two months of implementation.

“The implementation of work from home for ASN in central and regional
agencies is carried out for one working day per week, namely every
Friday, regulated through a circular (SE) from the Minister of State
Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform and an SE from the
Minister of Home Affairs,” said Airlangga during a virtual press
conference in Jakarta on 31 March 2026.

In addition to ASN, the government has also issued recommendations
for WFH in the private sector. The arrangements are outlined in a
circular from the Minister of Manpower, while still considering the
characteristics and needs of each business sector.
",
