Swiss VP visits Indonesia<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Swiss Vice President Flavio Cotti arrived here
\nyesterday for a two-day visit which will see him ink several
\naccords aimed at improving between ties between the countries.<\/p>\n
Cotti, who is also Swiss foreign minister, will hold a
\nbilateral talk with President Soeharto, according to the Swiss
\nembassy here.<\/p>\n
He will also meet senior government officials including
\nIndonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas, and
\nCoordinating Minister for Production and Distribution Hartarto.<\/p>\n
He is due to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Technical
\nCooperation with Alatas.<\/p>\n
Later Cotti will visit the National Commission on Human Rights
\nand sign another memorandum.<\/p>\n
Prior to leaving Indonesia later this evening, Cotti will
\nlaunch a clean air campaign here.<\/p>\n
Cotti and Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia Hollen Wager flew
\nyesterday to Yogyakarta to pay a courtesy call on Yogyakarta
\nGovernor Paku Alam VIII.<\/p>\n
The Swiss vice president and the governor held a long
\ndiscussion in which many questions on the status and history of
\nthe Yogyakarta special district came up.<\/p>\n
In an exchange of souvenirs, Cotti was given traditional
\nwayang puppets of Kresna and Arjuna by Paku Alam VIII, according
\nto Antara.<\/p>\n
Cotti also visited a waste water management plant at the
\nPurwokinanti district, a project financed by the Swiss government
\nand managed under the Yogyakarta Urban Development Project. (10)<\/p>",
