Swiss Air to improve Garuda's info system<\/p>\n
NUSA DUA, Bali (JP): The state-owned Garuda Indonesia Airlines
\nand Atraxis Swiss Air have agreed on further tightening their
\npartnership by jointly developing Garuda's information technology
\nsystem.<\/p>\n
Both Garuda and Atraxis, an information service subsidiary of
\nthe Swiss Air Group, signed the contractual agreement here
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Garuda's director of human resources development Eko Suwaryo
\nsaid the agreement would make the company's existing cooperation
\nwith Swiss Air more mutual.<\/p>\n
\"Before, Swiss Air was only a provider of the information
\nsystem that we use, but now we will actually benefit each other,\"
\nEko said after the signing of the agreement.<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, Atraxis would provide the technology for
\nGaruda's reservation and departure control system, while Garuda
\nwould provide the human resources, he said.<\/p>\n
Atraxis would train Garuda's staff to improve their
\ncompetencies in the airlines information service, he said.<\/p>\n
Atraxis's chief executive officer and President Hans Eisele
\nsaid yesterday his company was interested in developing a state
\nof the art computer information technology system for the
\nIndonesian airlines.<\/p>\n
\"Indonesia has a great potential to serve the global needs,
\nbecause it is a big country with many islands and airways. This
\nis a good reason to provide the service from here instead of from
\nplaces like Europe,\" Eisele said.<\/p>\n
The agreement included the use of the latest software
\nlicensing to be operated by Garuda at its Jakarta-based computer
\ncenter, he said.<\/p>\n
He added the system would be available for other airlines in
\nthe country.<\/p>\n
\"The Jakarta center can provide the latest state of the art
\nreservation and airport checking load control system for Garuda
\nand other airlines in the region,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Eisele said Atraxis also agreed to provide upgraded software
\nreleases regularly with Garuda.<\/p>\n
The software would contain systems including pricing, revenue
\nmanagement, customer information, revenue accounting and data
\nwarehouse solutions, he said.<\/p>\n
He said Garuda would pay the software with a monthly usage
\nfee, instead of a one-time fee.<\/p>\n
Eko Suwaryo said the partnership would start as soon as next
\nweek.<\/p>\n
Cooperation between Garuda and Swiss Air began in 1982.<\/p>\n
Atraxis Swiss Air provides its information technology system
\nto airlines-related business such as airports, cargo, and travel
