Engine<\/p>\n
Escudo 2.0 uses a 2000 cc, four-cylinder, 16 valve DOHC
\naluminium engine. This light and highly responsive new generation
\nengine also includes a most efficient fuel injection and direct
\nignition system without the conventional distributor caps or
\ncables for spark plugs, but comprises instead, spark plugs that
\nare integrated with the coil.<\/p>\n
For a greater engine performance and to reduce maintenance
\ncost, a self-lubricating and self-adjusting metal timing chain -
\nderived from the famed technology of Suzuki Motorcycles - is
\nused.<\/p>\n
To minimize noise and vibration for a comfortable and quiet
\ndrive, the engine has been placed on liquid-filled mounts.<\/p>\n
Escudo 2.0 with Automatic Transmission is also available. It
\ncomes complete with Power Mode and Overdrive buttons. With the
\nPower Mode on, the shifting of gears occurs at a high rpm,
\nbetween 4,500 and 5,000 rpm. When the Over Drive is at the \"on\"
\nposition, speed 4 is used, while its \"off\" position indicates the
\nthird gear is in operation.<\/p>\n
Suspension<\/p>\n
The suspensions provided on Escudo 2.0 have been carefully
\nselected to give you a smooth ride even on the bumpiest rugged
\nroads.<\/p>\n
While the front suspension consists of separately installed
\ncoil springs and shock absorbers, for the rear wheels low-
\npressure shock absorbers together with 5-link coil rigid axles
\nare used.<\/p>\n
At the engine area a strut bar has been placed to produce an
\nexcellent balance and to reduce any deflection.<\/p>\n
Safety<\/p>\n
To ensure better safety for the entire passengers during any
\ncrashes to the sides, all four doors are equipped with high-
\ntensile steel side impact beams. Likewise, the passenger
\ncompartment is also reinforced with high-tensile steel beams.<\/p>\n
Even its bumpers, top and frame are provided with crumple
\nzones to act as additional \"energy absorbers\" in case of any
\ncollision.<\/p>\n

\nhas gone all the way to undergo a collision test at 40 mile-per-
\nhour speed and has successfully achieved the \"Acceptable\" rating
\nfrom the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety Test. Compared
