        "content": "<p>Suwondo still at large: Police chief<\/p>\n<p>BOGOR, West Java (JP): President Abdurrachman Wahid's masseur<br>\nis now one of the most wanted men in the country, not for his<br>\ntherapeutic skills, but for his alleged involvement in the Rp 35<br>\nbillion scam at the National Logistics Agency (Bulog) foundation.<\/p>\n<p>National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Roesdihardjo said the Police<br>\nhave launched a manhunt for Suwondo, alias An Peng Sui.<\/p>\n<p>\"The police are still pursuing him. We hope to arrest him in<br>\nthe near future so that the case can be investigated thoroughly,\"<br>\nhe said after he handed over 11 patrol cars and 47 motorcycles to<br>\nthe Bogor and Bandung Regional Police here on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Suwondo is wanted after Bulog deputy chief Sapuan admitted, in<br>\npolice questioning on Thursday, to have given the money to him<br>\nbetween Jan. 13 and 21.<\/p>\n<p>Sapuan who was suspended from his position in Bulog is still<br>\nundergoing intensive investigation at the city police<br>\nheadquarters in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Roesdihardjo said the National Police Headquarters has not<br>\ntaken over the case from the City Police.<\/p>\n<p>\"The City Police will continue to tackle the investigation,\"<br>\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>The swindle was uncovered following news reports saying<br>\nSuwondo earlier asked Bulog for money from for palace coffers.<br>\nThe request was reportedly turned down by the Bulog chief Yusuf<br>\nKalla, but Suwondo then turned to Sapuan, who met the request<br>\nafter he was promised a promotion to Bulog's top post.<\/p>\n<p>The president, who knew nothing about the case, ordered the<br>\npolice to arrest Suwondo for allegedly misusing his name to<br>\nembezzle the funds.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Jakarta Police Detective chief Alex Bambang<br>\nRiatmojo said Sapuan, who became a suspect on Tuesday, was<br>\nofficially arrested on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have questioned him this afternoon and he's now officially<br>\nunder police arrest,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>During the questioning, Alex said, Sapuan again admitted that<br>\nhe had given over Rp 35 billion to the masseur.
