Suwandi ready to fight for selection<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Former Davis Cupper Suwandi faces a great
\nchallenge from old hands Abdul Kahar MIM and Yustedjo Tarik and
\njunior M. Syahid in group B of the preselection tournament for
\nIndonesia's next national team.<\/p>\n
\"I'll do my best to win the group,\" Suwandi said of his
\nchances in the tournament, to be staged by the Indonesian Tennis
\nAssociation's National Tennis Body at the Senayan clay courts
\nfrom Thursday to Saturday.<\/p>\n
\"Everybody must want to join the country's Super Eight,\" he
\nadded.<\/p>\n
The Super Eight -- Andrian Raturandang, Sebastian da Costa,
\nBonit Wiryawan, Sulistyo Wibowo, Suhendar Dinata, Djanuar Radjab,
\nFeby Widhiyanto and Samsudin Pare -- were installed as the Super
\nEight after the first selection tournament in June.<\/p>\n
Suwandi, who missed the tournament due previous commitments in
\nChina Taipei, said that he had met the three players in
\ntournaments before.<\/p>\n
\"I beat Yustedjo and Abdul Kahar about three years ago,\" said
\nSuwandi, who has been Indonesia's number one for more than a
\nyear.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the body Wimar Witoelar said yesterday that 10
\nnational players and six juniors, aged between 16 and 20, have
\nregistered themselves for the tournament.<\/p>\n
Eight players from the preselection qualify for the selection
\nagainst the Super Eight.<\/p>\n
Benny Mailili, a member of the body, said that the round-robin
\ntournament will feature the best of three tie-break sets.<\/p>\n
\"The winners and runners-up in each group will challenge the
\nSuper Eight in December,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"We have tried to make a fair draw by splitting the best four
