They will all be replaced by
professionals," she added.

The six city-owned companies are tap water company PDAM Jaya,
slaughter company PD Dharma Jaya, property company PD Pembangunan
Sarana Jaya, market operator PD Pasar Jaya, waste water company
PD PAL Jaya and hotel operator PD Wisata Niaga Jaya.

The companies have been targeted to contribute more than Rp 4
billion (US$470,500) to the 2000 city budget. In the 1999/2000
budget, PD Pasar Jaya, PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya and PD PAL
Jaya's contributions only added up to about Rp 3.3 billion.

"The governor will also relinquish his position as chief
commissioner at 21 jointly owned companies to improve their
performances," Dameria said, while adding that the governor would
initially resign from four of the companies, namely PT Bumi
Grafika Jaya, PT Food Station Cipinang, PT Pembangunan Jaya and
PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol

Dameria, however, denied allegations that the governor was
prevaricating over his resignations.

"The governor is resigning in phases because he has to wait
for shareholders' meetings to find replacements," she said.

Sutiyoso himself has repeatedly told reporters he wants to
resign from the positions to concentrate on his governorship.

Dameria also revealed the city administration's plan to set up
two property and tourism holding companies to improve the
companies' performances in similar fields.

"We will set up PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol as the holding
company for the tourism sector. It will oversee PD Wisata Niaga
Jaya and Jaya Raya guest house," she said.

"But, we are yet to decide on which company will be the
holding company for property sector. We are still evaluating our
three property companies," she added, before hinting that the
three companies were PT Pembangunan Pantura, PT Pembangunan Pluit
Jaya and PT Pulo Mas Jaya.

The 21 jointly-owned companies have been targeted to secure a
net revenue of more than Rp 13.65 billion in the 2000 city
budget, compared to the Rp 27.11 billion they added to the city's
coffers in 1999/2000.
