Sutiyoso ready to answer police<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Governor Sutiyoso was ready to face police
\nquestioning over alleged corruption involving Rp 4.2 billion
\nearmarked for Jakarta's flood victims, city council spokesman
\nMuhayat said Friday.<\/p>\n
"Governor Sutiyoso has received the police summons but we do
\nnot know yet the place of the questioning," Muhayat said.<\/p>\n
"The questioning can take place at city police headquarters or
\nhere at City Hall. We must consider the governor's tight
\nschedule."<\/p>\n
The questioning is slated to take place next Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The funds, collected during a charity show in March, were
\nlater handed to the Institute of Civic Education on Indonesia
\n(ICE on Indonesia), a non-governmental organization.<\/p>\n
Police have named ICE on Indonesia's treasurer, Hendrawan, a
\nsuspect while its director, Irma Hutabarat, has been named a
\nwitness.<\/p>\n
The case surfaced when another non-governmental organization,
\nGovernment Watch (Gowa), accused ICE on Indonesia of swindling
\nthe public funds.<\/p>\n
Irma has filed a defamation suit against Gowa chairman Farid
\nR. Faqih. -- JP<\/p>",
