Sutiyoso gets doctorate degree<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta's Governor Sutiyoso has been awarded an
\nhonorary doctorate in political science from the University of
\nPusan, South Korea.<\/p>\n
Sutiyoso, who was inaugurated in a ceremony at the university
\non Wednesday, was given the academic title for his success in
\nleading Jakarta amid political uncertainty.<\/p>\n
"I consider the degree also a reward for Jakarta's citizens,"
\nSutiyoso said on Thursday upon returning from trips to the U.S.,
\nCanada and Korea, which began last week.<\/p>\n
He said the process for the awarding of the degree had begun
\nafter he spoke at the Asian Cities Summit, held in Pusan two
\nyears ago.<\/p>\n
At the summit, Sutiyoso talked about how to tackle development
\nand security in the city amid the prolonged political turmoil and
