African<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): A man arrested for smuggling 320 grams of<br>\nmorphine on Jan. 8 is not a South African citizen as reported,<br>\nthe South African embassy said.<\/p>\n<p>The embassy said on Tuesday that after checking passport<br>\ndetails and the suspect's fingerprints, the embassy determined<br>\nthe suspect was not a South African citizen.<\/p>\n<p>\"The passport he was using was the passport reportedly stolen<br>\nsome months earlier,\" the embassy said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Customs and<br>\nExcise officers,  Lombane Cosbane was arrested with 25 capsules<br>\nof morphine.<\/p>\n<p>The airport customs and excise office chief Nisfu Chasbullah,<br>\nsaid the man swallowed 11 capsules and kept the remaining 14<br>\ncapsules in his jeans.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect collapsed at the airport soon after he arrived<br>\nfrom Bangkok via Singapore. Chasbullah said some of the capsules<br>\nthe suspect had swallowed probably leaked causing him to<br>\ncollapse.<\/p>\n<p>The embassy said that new South African passports had certain<br>\nidentifications and only authorities could determine its<br>\nauthenticity.<\/p>\n<p>The identifications made it difficult for anybody to forge or<br>\ntamper.<\/p>\n<p>The embassy said that so far the measures have been successful<br>\nin curbing frauds involving South African passports.
