The Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at North Toraja Police,\nAdjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) Arifan Efendi, along with the\nunit\u2019s deputy head, Adjunct Inspector (Aiptu) Nasrul, have been detained\nby a special team from the South Sulawesi Provincial Police on suspicion\nof involvement in drug trafficking within their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n
The two police officers were arrested following examination records\nfrom a suspected drug dealer in Toraja who admitted to making weekly\ncash payments to officers at the North Toraja Police station.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe North Toraja narcotics unit chief has been placed on special\nassignment. For now, two individuals linked to this matter are suspected\nof involvement,\u201d said South Sulawesi Provincial Police Internal Affairs\nDivision Chief, Commissioner of Police Zulham Effendi, when contacted by\njournalists in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday, 22 February\n2026.<\/p>\n
He confirmed that the case is under investigation by the Internal\nAffairs investigative team, with intensive examinations still under way.\nFurther inquiries continue to be conducted regarding the two police\nofficers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe point is, there is no place for those who play games, especially\nwhen it involves narcotics. We are still investigating the extent of\neach individual\u2019s involvement and their respective roles,\u201d Zulham\naffirmed.<\/p>\n
Separately, North Toraja Police Chief Senior Commissioner Stephanus\nLuckyto Andry Wicaksono stated that his office had fully handed the\nmatter over to the South Sulawesi Provincial Police Internal Affairs\nDivision to process the alleged involvement of his two subordinates.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe narcotics unit chief and his deputy have not yet been designated\nas suspects, but are classified as persons under examination or\nsuspected of ethical code violations over alleged involvement in drug\ntrafficking,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Stephanus emphasised that his office would take firm action against\nany personnel found to have committed violations. He also noted the\ncommitment of South Sulawesi Provincial Police Chief Inspector General\nDjuhandhani Rahardjo Puro to eradicating drug trafficking, including\nwithin the police force itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn accordance with the South Sulawesi Police Chief\u2019s orders, we are\ncommitted to showing zero tolerance for any violations committed by our\nmembers, particularly if they are proven to be involved in drug\ntrafficking,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
Drug Dealer\u2019s Payments<\/p>\n
The case came to light after the North Toraja Police narcotics team\npreviously raided the home of a content creator suspected of being a\ndrug dealer in Rantepao. Four individuals were detained along with\nevidence \u2014 identified by their initials as MJ, D, AD, and ET alias\nO.<\/p>\n
The breakthrough followed the arrest of one of the suspects at Makale\nTerminal.
