        "content": "<p>Suspected muggers gunned down<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Cakung Police in East Jakarta shot dead two suspected<br>\nmuggers late on Monday for resisting arrest and endangering<br>\nofficers' lives, a police report said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Rudi, 21, and Hamba Tua Siregar, 30, died after receiving at<br>\nleast three gunshot wounds each.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the two had been on the police's wanted list due<br>\nto their suspected frequent involvement in crime, mostly<br>\nconducted on public transportation vehicles and also at bus<br>\nterminals in the East Jakarta area.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were spotted by police along Jl. Raya Bekasi,<br>\nallegedly after extorting money from a passenger on a public<br>\nminivan.<\/p>\n<p>When ordered to surrender, they refused and drew weapons,<br>\nchallenging the officers to take them by force.<\/p>\n<p>After being shot by police, the bodies of the two suspected<br>\nrobbers were then rushed to the state-run Cipto Mangunkusumo<br>\nGeneral Hospital in Central Jakarta for postmortem<br>\nexaminations. --JP<\/p>",
