Suspected burglars held<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Police District arrested on
\nSaturday members of a gang suspected of having robbed the house
\nof a Chinese embassy diplomat, police said.<\/p>\n
Chief of the South Jakarta Police district, Lt. Col. Sylvanus
\nWenas, told reporters yesterday that six men, identified as BP,
\nOdi, Iis, Sur, Jaja and Suk, were arrested in Koja Utara, North
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
"Police also confiscated sharp weapons, which were found in
\ntheir possession, and stolen items, including a television set, a
\nmini compo, imitation jewelry, motor cycles and hand bags," Wenas
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The robbery was reported to have occurred at the house of
\nChinese diplomat Zhongguo Shen, First Secretary (Consular) at the
\nembassy, last month.<\/p>\n
According to police records, the gang has, in the past year,
\ncommitted seven robberies, all in South Jakarta. In their
\noperations the gang used a car and copied door keys, Wenas said.
