Suspect shot to death<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested three fugitives and shot one of
\nthem to death yesterday for killing a man on Feb. 9 on Jl.
\nSumenep, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police Precinct Deputy Chief Maj. Bambang
\nSugiarto said Dedy alias Gondrong, 34, was shot after he resisted
\narrest.<\/p>\n
The shooting took place in a makeshift house on Jl. Palmerah
\nUtara, near Palmerah railway station.<\/p>\n
\"The suspect tried to shoot the police when they entered the
\nhouse. However, they later found the suspect had used a toy gun
\nto threaten the officers,\" Bambang said.<\/p>\n
He said the police rushed Dedy to Kramatjati Police Hospital,
\nbut was dead on arrival.<\/p>\n
The police also arrested two other suspects, identified as
\nAteng and Purnomo, in the house, he said.<\/p>\n
According to Bambang, the police tracked down the men in
\nconnection with the killing of a hoodlum, identified as Udin, on
\nJl. Sumenep.<\/p>\n
The three suspects allegedly mobbed Udin.<\/p>\n
Neighbors found the body of Udin lying on the ground. There
\nwere severe stabs to the face, body and arms. (jun)<\/p>",
