Susilo to advise on suspects in Telkom case<\/p>\n
The government-sanctioned anticorruption team "still awaits
\nPresident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's instruction and input"
\nbefore naming suspects into alleged corruption at state
\ntelecommunications company PT Telkom.<\/p>\n
Team coordinator Hendarman Supandji said that the team could
\nnot name any suspects as it had promised earlier because "there
\nwere too many cases that need further investigation".<\/p>\n
Hendarman had said earlier that he would make public
\ncorruption cases at the company as well as naming suspects this
\nweek.<\/p>\n
"Naming suspects will require an instruction from President
\nSusilo. The President has indicated that the suspects should
\ninvolve leaders of the company," he told reporters at the State
\nPalace late on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Hendarman said although several Telkom directors had been
\ndismissed by the government, they did not have legal immunity for
\nthe policies and practices they were responsible for during their
\ntenure, and which might lead to criminal charges.<\/p>\n
The anticorruption team raised the status of its
\ninvestigations into Telkom from inquiry to prosecution last week,
\nwith cases including alleged irregularities in joint-venture
\ncontracts as well as kickbacks for the construction of
\ntelecommunications network.<\/p>\n
However the company's president director Tanri Abeng had said
\nearlier that he was not aware of the probe.<\/p>\n
Hendarman refused to disclose the names of Telkom's former and
\nincumbent executives who had been summoned by the team for
\nquestioning.<\/p>\n
Telkom shareholders last week named banker Arwin Rasyid to
\ntake over the firm's top post from Kristiono in a massive
\nreorganization following investigations by the anticorruption
