Susilo, Kalla power hungry: Agum<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Communications minister Agum Gumelar said on
\nWednesday that Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jusuf Kalla had
\nwithdrawn from the Cabinet just to pursue their political
\nambitions.<\/p>\n
Susilo, who was formerly coordinating minister for political
\nand security affairs, resigned from the Cabinet on March 9, while
\nJusuf, former coordinating minister for people's welfare,
\ntendered his resignation on Monday.<\/p>\n
They have teamed up to run for president and vice president in
\nthe July 5 election.<\/p>\n
"Yes, we regret the resignation of our colleagues Susilo and
\nJusuf from the Cabinet to seek power," Agum was quoted by Antara
\nas saying on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Agum claimed that he would not leave his Cabinet post even if
\na political party offered him the chance to run for the vice
\npresidential seat because being a minister was "part of my
\nbiggest commitment to the nation and the state".<\/p>\n
"As a soldier, I will never abandon my duty. A soldier must be
\nloyal and dedicate himself to the state," said Agum, who has been
\ntipped as the running mate of Amien Rais, chairman of the
\nNational Mandate Party (PAN).<\/p>\n
Susilo and Jusuf are considered by many as the strongest pair
