        "content": "<p>Survey finds problem with water<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: A survey released on Friday found that almost 20 <br>\npercent of water refill outlets in the city sell water <br>\ncontaminated with coliform, a bacteria blamed for causing <br>\ndiarrhea and other health problems.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Communication Forum on Drinking Water Quality <br>\nManagement surveyed 96 of the 1,200 water refill outlets across <br>\nthe city in August and September.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The water quality is relatively hygienic. However, consumers <br>\nshould be wary of the level of coliform,&quot; forum chairman Abdullah <br>\nMuthalib said.<\/p>\n<p>The survey found most outlet operators do not check the <br>\ncleanliness of their water.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They tend to be reckless when handling the equipment used to <br>\nprocess the water. This poor sanitary is very influential on the <br>\nquality of the water.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>In April, the state-run Bogor Agriculture Institute released a <br>\nsurvey that cautioned customers against buying drinking water <br>\nfrom refill outlets because the water could be contaminated with <br>\nharmful bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>It said that 16 percent of 120 samples of drinking water from <br>\nJakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi and six other major cities in <br>\nthe country contained coliform bacteria.
