Surjadi orders tougher supervision<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja has urged the
\ncapital's five mayors to coordinate with other agencies to deal
\nwith problems related to tribal affiliations, religion, race and
\nsocietal groups.<\/p>\n
City officials, in cooperation with military and police
\nofficers, should take fast, appropriate and integrated action to
\nhandle such problems," he said in a meeting with the mayors over
\nthe weekend.<\/p>\n
The five mayors are Abdul Kahfi of Central Jakarta,
\nSutardjianto of West Jakarta, Pardjoko of South Jakarta,
\nSudarsono of East Jakarta and Suprawito of North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Surjadi said he agreed with Wiranto's idea that Jakarta needs
\na special board to anticipate and counter any problems.<\/p>\n
He also asked his subordinates to be more critical and more
\ncareful in handling problems. "Do check and recheck and don't
\ncomment about anything that is unclear."<\/p>\n
The governor urged the five mayors to rejuvenate the
\nneighborhood security system which he claimed had slackened
\nrecently.<\/p>\n
"Supervise the condition around your area and improve your
\nservices to public," the governor ordered the mayors.(29)<\/p>",
