Surjadi laments lax attitude<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Sub-district heads are giving people the wrong
\nimpression that he hates street traders, the Governor Surjadi
\nSoedirdja said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"Every time I conduct a visit to sub-district offices, street
\ntraders are routinely shunted out of sight along the routes
\npassed by the city entourage, he said.<\/p>\n
This is only \"playacting,\" Surjadi said, and shows many sub-
\ndistrict heads do not understand the legitimacy of the city
\npolicy for a clean, orderly Jakarta.<\/p>\n
He gave the statement in an installment of five new officials.<\/p>\n
Surjadi also lamented the frequent complaints of officials
\nwhen they are placed in different positions.<\/p>\n
\"Officials often say they still want to do something
\nworthwhile, but they have not done anything yet...\" he said.<\/p>\n
Such civil servants have yet to understand that an
\norganization needs to move people around to improve their
\noutlook, Surjadi said.<\/p>\n
The officials installed were Haswidi A. Taufik, the head of
\nthe museum and history agency, Purwanto H. Wibowo for the deputy
\nof the board of regional planning and Hans Suhardjo as the head
\nof the administration of sub-district heads.<\/p>\n
Also installed were Susanto, the director of PD Dharma Jaya,
\nthe city company which runs animal husbandry, and Suahrdi, the
\ndirector of the PT Food Station, the city company in charge of
