        "content": "<p>Surakarta opts for Asian c'ship<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG (JP): The Surakarta branch of the Badminton<br>\nAssociation of Indonesia (PBSI) has chosen to host the Asian<br>\njunior championship next July instead of the Aqua Cup tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\"We were offered to host both events but because the dates<br>\nwere too close, we opted for the junior championship,\" branch<br>\nchairman Budiharjo said.<\/p>\n<p>\"We'd love to host both events. We can still host both events<br>\nif the Asian championship is postponed to September,\" he said,<br>\nadding that Semarang could now host the Aqua Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Aqua Cup is slated for June 26 to June 30, while the Asian<br>\njunior championship will be held in July.<\/p>\n<p>Surakarta has hosted several national and regional badminton<br>\ncompetitions in the past, including the Aqua Cup, Moenadi Cup,<br>\nAbdul Kadir Cup and the 1997 Indonesian Open.<\/p>\n<p>Budiharjo said the Bhinneka Sports Hall was designed for major<br>\ntournaments like the Indonesian Open.<\/p>\n<p>Budiharjo, who also chairs the PMS badminton club in<br>\nSurakarta, said his shuttlers would take part in an upcoming<br>\nnational club tournament in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.<\/p>\n<p>PMS will send three men and four women to the event, he said.<br>\n(har)<\/p>",
