        "content": "<p>Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi\n(Daop) 8 Surabaya recorded 48,328 passengers using train services on\nSunday, the second day of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah\/Eid 2026. The Public\nRelations Manager of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, in\nSurabaya, East Java, on Sunday, stated that based on preliminary data up\nto 10:00 WIB, this number consists of 24,786 departing passengers and\n23,542 arriving passengers. \u201cThis figure is estimated to increase\nfurther by the end of the day as train schedules continue,\u201d Mahendro\nsaid. He explained that the highest number of passengers was recorded at\nthree main stations: Surabaya Gubeng Station with a total of 14,214\npassengers, divided into 7,773 departures and 6,441 arrivals. Then, at\nSurabaya Pasarturi Station, there were 12,619 passengers, split into\n6,089 departures and 6,530 arrivals, as well as Malang Station with\n6,558 passengers, including 3,154 departures and 3,404 arrivals. During\nthe Lebaran transport period from 11-22 March 2026, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya\nhas served 523,344 customers, with details of 289,695 departing\npassengers and 233,649 arriving passengers. Meanwhile, long-distance\ntrain ticket sales up to Sunday (22\/3) reached 434,004 tickets, or about\n77 percent of the total capacity of 561,528 seats provided for the\nperiod from 11 March to 1 April 2026. Overall, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya\nprojects serving 853,511 passengers during that period, with 434,004\ndepartures and 419,507 arrivals. To support the smooth mobility of the\npublic, the government provides a 30 percent discount on commercial\neconomy train tickets valid from 14-29 March 2026. In the Daop 8\nSurabaya region, 188,288 discounted tickets are available, and 138,782\ntickets, or about 74 percent, have been sold. Thus, there are still\naround 49,000 discounted tickets that the public can utilise. The\nhighest sales rate was recorded on 18 March 2026 with 30,293 tickets\nsold, followed by 19 March 2026 with 28,409 tickets, and the peak return\nflow is predicted for 24 March 2026. \u201cCustomers are urged to arrive\nearly at the station and not approach departure time to avoid the risk\nof missing the train,\u201d he said. In addition, customers are advised to\nconsider alternative departure schedules if tickets for preferred times\nare nearly full, and to utilise onward travel schemes for route and time\nflexibility.
