A viral video shows two trucks bearing the insignia of \u2018Koperasi Desa\nMerah Putih\u2019 transporting goods or stock from an Indomarco warehouse in\nthe Surabaya area, which has sparked a polemic on social media.<\/p>\n
The video attracted attention because Kopdes Merah Putih reportedly\ntook goods from Indomarco, a major distributor or supplier to the\nIndomaret network across Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The Surabaya City Government has spoken up about the viral clip. From\nthe clarifications provided, the activity is part of an official\npartnership and not an illegal act.<\/p>\n
Reza Fahreddy, head of the Cooperative Section at the Dinas Koperasi\nUsaha Kecil dan Menengah dan Perdagangan (Dinkopumdag) Surabaya,\nconfirmed that the video occurred in the Kota Pahlawan area. \u201cIf [the\nKopdes Merah Putih truck video] is in [Rungkut],\u201d Reza told reporters on\nWednesday (20 May).<\/p>\n
He confirmed a partnership between PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, as\nthe state-owned enterprise managing Kopdes Merah Putih, and PT Indomarco\nas the private party. He said Indomarco also supplies Indofood products\nto Kopdes Merah Putih. \u201cAs for Indofood\u2019s version, Indomarco is the\ndistributor to us (Dinkopumdag), informing that Indofood as the\nprincipal has a cooperation with PT Agrinas,\u201d Reza explained.<\/p>\n
On that basis, Reza views the Kopdes Merah Putih trucks\u2019 activity in\ntaking logistics from Indomarco as normal and legal. \u201cAs far as I know\nIndofood is one of the principals appointed by Agrinas to stock the\nstores,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In response to the controversy, Reza stressed that the city\ngovernment\u2019s authority in this programme is very limited. He said the\nlocal government is only responsible for the ownership of the stores\u2019\nphysical assets, not for commodity regulation or the supply chain of\ngoods sold. \u201cThe information from the centre is that we as local\ngovernments pay for the construction and related costs. That implies\nthere must be a handover first before we renegotiate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Reza urged the public not to engage in wild speculation, as the\nentire distribution chain is fully controlled by the centre through PT\nAgrinas. \u201cThe decision-maker is not us; Agrinas administers it.
