Supreme Court employee arrested<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested a Supreme Court employee
\nThursday at his house on Jl. Serdang, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta,
\nfor swindling eight job seekers of Rp 60 million (US$25,263).<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. M. Ibrahim said the man
\narrested was Wahid Sungkono, 35.<\/p>\n
\"The suspect started collecting money from the eight victims
\nin April,\" Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n
He said five of the victims, Ratna, Lilis, Siti Alfinah, Ahmad
\nand Subagyo, paid Wahid between Rp 6 million and 10 million each.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim said Wahid, a Supreme Court personnel department
\nofficial, made fake letters saying the eight had got jobs at the
\nSupreme Court.<\/p>\n
When the victims, mostly law graduates, checked to see if they
\nhad got jobs they were told that none of them were on the new
\nemployees list, Lt. Col. Ibrahim said. \"They then reported Wahid
\nto the police.\"<\/p>\n
He said police assumed Wahid, who was fired over the incident,
\nhad deceived other job seekers.<\/p>\n
\"I call people, especially job seekers, to be more careful
\nwith anybody offering jobs,\" Ibrahim said. (jun)<\/p>",
