PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), operating as InJourney Airports,\nhas commenced preparations to optimise Bandung\u2019s Husein Sastranegara\nAirport following a government policy that opens the door for the\nairport to once again serve scheduled commercial jet flights. The move\nis based on a directive from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation\nat the Ministry of Transportation, numbered AU.102\/1\/8\/DRJU.DAU\/2026,\nwhich allows the airport to handle scheduled domestic and international\ncommercial flights using both jet and propeller aircraft.<\/p>\n
InJourney Airports President Director Mohammad R. Pahlevi stated that\nan Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT) team has been\nformed to manage all stages of preparation. \u201cThe preparations refer to\nthe Directorate General of Civil Aviation\u2019s letter, which emphasises\nthat security, safety, and service aspects must meet requirements to\nensure the optimisation runs well and smoothly,\u201d Pahlevi said in a\nwritten statement on Friday, 26 June 2026. He added that the company is\ncontinuously coordinating with various parties to ensure operational\nreadiness meets standards.<\/p>\n
On the technical side, InJourney Airports is upgrading the Airport\nRescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) capacity from category 5 to category 7,\nreinforcing security personnel, and conducting runway overlay works to\nsupport jet aircraft operations. \u201cPreparations are also being carried\nout on the airside, including resurfacing the runway in several sectors\nto support jet aircraft operations, as well as ensuring the readiness of\ntaxiways and aircraft parking aprons,\u201d Pahlevi explained.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Bandung city government is accelerating the\narrangement of supporting infrastructure around the airport. Bandung\nMayor Muhammad Farhan said the current main focus is on road access,\npublic street lighting, and parking facilities. \u201cAt Husein Airport, we\nare currently focusing on preparing supporting infrastructure and\nfacilities, from road repairs and public street lighting to parking\nfacilities. This is what we are continuously coordinating,\u201d Farhan\nstated.<\/p>\n
Farhan estimates that in the initial operational phase, Husein\nSastranegara Airport will serve around 3,000 passengers per day. He is\ntargeting that by August 2026, the airport will be able to accommodate\njet aircraft such as the Boeing 737-500 and Airbus A320. \u201cThe hope is\nthat by August, jet aircraft will already be operating, such as the\nBoeing 737-500 or Airbus A320.
