Sungrow has announced the successful commercial operation of Myanmar's largest integrated solar and energy storage project, featuring 110 MW PV and 20 MW/40 MWh BESS. The project achieved rapid commissioning through integrated system architecture and advanced modular inverter technology, setting a new benchmark for renewable energy implementation in Southeast Asia.

Mandalay, Myanmar — Sungrow, a leading global provider of
photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems, has announced
that the integrated solar and energy storage project belonging to Hanzar
Solar and Leader Power Energy in Myanmar has commenced commercial
operations. With a capacity of 110 MW PV and 20 MW/40 MWh BESS, this is
the largest photovoltaic power plant in Myanmar and is set to enhance
power supply reliability while supporting national energy mix
diversification.

Thanks to Sungrow’s integrated solar and energy storage solutions,
the project reached commercial operation after a testing and
commissioning process lasting only seven days, establishing a new
standard for large-scale renewable energy implementation in Southeast
Asia. Despite a very tight schedule, the project was completed through
efficient coordination between Sungrow’s headquarters and local teams,
alongside close collaboration in engineering, commissioning, and
operations. Supported by Sungrow’s regional resources in Southeast Asia,
the testing and commissioning process, originally scheduled for two
weeks, was successfully completed in just two days without operational
incidents.

Key factors in the accelerated timeline included the use of Sungrow’s
1+X Modular Inverter solution, which supports commissioning in off-grid
mode, thereby reducing reliance on diesel generators and minimising
on-site preparation. Furthermore, due to the vertically integrated
architecture of the Energy Storage System (ESS), primary equipment
underwent preliminary assembly and integrated commissioning before being
dispatched to the site, reducing the workload in the field.
Additionally, Sungrow’s experienced technical team provided 24-hour
on-site support to ensure rapid response to technical needs.

Located in the Mandalay region, the project operates in an
environment characterised by long dry seasons and temperatures exceeding
40 degrees Celsius. To address these challenges, the project utilises
1+X Modular Inverters, the PowerTitan 2.0 energy storage system, and an
intelligent power generation management platform. The facility is
equipped with grid-forming PCS technology and Black Start features,
allowing for independent microgrid operation to supply local electricity
needs and reactivate essential facilities when required. Although
current grid conditions do not yet allow for full grid-forming
technology utilisation, the system has demonstrated optimal operational
flexibility in isolated mode and is prepared to support future grid
modernisation and emergency supply needs.

“We greatly appreciate the professionalism, rapid response, and
continuous support from Sungrow during the project execution,” said Tony
Yang, Managing Director of Power Way International Limited. “Strong
technical capability, efficient coordination, and reliable on-site
services were critical factors in ensuring the commissioning process
proceeded smoothly and was completed in such a short timeframe.”

This project demonstrates Sungrow’s ability to deliver local
execution, rapid implementation, and integrated clean energy solutions
to accelerate the energy transition in Southeast Asia.
",
