        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Public Works is accelerating the construction of the\nKayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road to strengthen connectivity along\nthe main corridor of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road. There are two priority\nsections: Section 1 Kramasan-Sungai Rengas and Section 2 Sungai\nRengas-Pangkalan Balai, targeted for completion in the third quarter of\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasised that the construction\nof this toll road offers significant benefits for public mobility and\nlogistics distribution in Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to support the construction of this project to ensure it\nis completed on time because it provides great benefits to the\ncommunity,\u201d said Dody in a written statement on Saturday (9\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road has a total length of 111.69\nkm and is part of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road network. The\nKayuagung-Palembang section, spanning 37.62 km, is already operational,\nwhile the extension towards Betung, spanning 69.19 km, is currently\nunder construction.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of the Palembang-Betung toll road section is divided\ninto three sections: Section 1 Kramasan-Sungai Rengas, 21.5 km long;\nSection 2 Sungai Rengas-Pangkalan Balai, 33 km long; and Section 3\nPangkalan Balai-Betung, 14.69 km long.<\/p>\n<p>The current acceleration focus is on Sections 1 and 2, as they will\nstrengthen connectivity from the Palembang urban area to the northern\nregion of South Sumatra and support smooth inter-provincial logistics\nflow.<\/p>\n<p>Construction progress shows significant achievements. For Section 1,\nland acquisition has reached 95.43% with construction progress at\n92.07%. Meanwhile, for Section 2, land acquisition progress is 95.58%\nand construction progress is 89.88%. Both sections are targeted to\ncomplete construction by the third quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Section 3 Pangkalan Balai-Betung currently records land acquisition\nprogress of 86.15% with construction progress of 51.82% and is targeted\nfor completion in early 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of this toll road is carried out through a\nGovernment Cooperation with Business Entity (KPBU) scheme by the Toll\nRoad Business Entity (BUJT) PT Hutama Karya (Persero). Construction work\nfor Sections 1 and 2 is carried out by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk,\nwhile Section 3 is handled by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road project has an\ninvestment value of approximately Rp14.98 trillion with a 50-year\nconcession period. The presence of this toll road will significantly\nreduce travel time from Palembang to Betung from around three hours to\nabout one hour.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to improving travel efficiency, this toll road is\nexpected to streamline logistics distribution, reduce transportation\ncosts, and drive economic growth in the South Sumatra region.<\/p>\n<p>The Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung toll road section will become an\nimportant part of strengthening the main network of the Trans-Sumatra\nToll Road as the backbone of mobility for people and goods on the island\nof Sumatra.<\/p>",
