Summarecon's indifference<\/p>\n
I live in Bukit Gading Villa, which is an \"elite\" area of
\nKelapa Gading. We moved to this expensive area to live in the
\nquiet, peaceful and security-controlled comfort that this area
\nsupposedly provides, because where we lived previously there was
\nno control, poor security and Summarecon did not take care
\nto control construction activities or the construction crews that
\nwere building next door.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, despite the sizable investment in resettling,
\nwe now once again find ourselves in the same rotten situation.
\nSummarecon, in conjunction with the mayor, is building a clinic
\nin the BGV residential area. Construction activities and the
\nassociated noise and disturbance of the peace start before six in
\nthe morning and continue until eight or even nine o'clock
\nat night. Work continues unabated on Saturdays, Sundays and
\npublic holidays.<\/p>\n
I have written a letter of complaint to the Pak RW
\n(neighborhood chief), I have met with him personally
\non two occasions to discuss the situation, and he has assured me
\nthat he has personally met with the directors of Summarecon and
\nthe mayor, and despite the fact that there is a written agreement
\n(work should start at eight and end at five, no work on Sunday
\nafternoons or public holidays) and many empty promises,
\nthere has been no compliance from the construction crew or its
\nsupervisors.<\/p>\n
This total lack of concern regarding the \"rights of residents\"
\nand the absolutely unacceptable level of disturbance that has
\nshattered the peace and quiet in our residential area is
\nindicative of the poor attitude of Summarecon toward the
\ncommunity within which it works. Furthermore, the inability of
\nthe mayor and the appointed security personnel to properly
\ncontrol the activities in compliance with the existing agreement
\nis indicative of the lawlessness and disregard of the law that
\nexists throughout the greater Jakarta area (the traffic chaos is
\none other example).<\/p>\n
Conditions like these, where following the right path does not
\nwork, create a climate where people tend to eventually take
\nthe law into their own hands (as has happened elsewhere in
\nJakarta). I would not be at all surprised if the community reacts
\nin protest! Summarecon and the mayor should be ashamed of their
\nbehavior and lack of concern for the community.<\/p>\n
