Summarecon responds<\/p>\n
Pertaining to Van der Westhuizen P.J.'s letter in The Jakarta
\nPost on Nov. 4, we at PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (SA), the developer
\nof Kelapa Gading Permai, would like to make the following
\nclarification.<\/p>\n
First, the puskesmas (health clinic) in the Bukit Gading Villa
\n(BGV) area is on a plot of land that was handed over by SA to the
\nJakarta municipality (DKI) as part of our obligation to provide a
\nsocial\/public facility, therefore the construction of this clinic
\nwas entirely under the coordination of the municipality.<\/p>\n
As a matter of fact, before construction began, we had advised
\nthe municipality to relocate to an alternative location.
\nUnfortunately, this gesture did not receive any response from the
\nresidents of Bukit Gading Villa.<\/p>\n
Second, it is not true or fair at all if we are perceived as
\nbeing indifferent toward the township we have developed since
\n1975. We are a publicly listed real estate developer who has been
\nrebuilding the infrastructure after the floods in February of
\nthis year, by repairing the boulevards, clearing the main gutters
\nof garbage and constructing a water retention pond to the north
\nof the township. In addition, we have also organized a
\nneighborhood campaign aimed at increasing residents' awareness
\nand care toward the environment in an attempt to prevent floods
\nfrom recurring.<\/p>\n
As for your suggestion on what the government can and should
\ndo, let's voice this together as a concerted effort to make
\nKelapa Gading Permai, including BGV, a better place to live in.<\/p>\n
