        "content": "<p>\u201cWe have established three posts, which began operating today,\u201d\nSumenep Police Chief Senior Commissioner Ariek Indra Sentanu said here\nMonday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The posts are located at the Sumenep police headquarters, Kalianget\nPort and the Masalembu police station, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The posts were established to strengthen preparedness and\ncoordination for the search and rescue (SAR) operation, Sentanu\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have strengthened personnel readiness and inter-agency\ncoordination to support the search for Virgo Transport 8. We are\ncoordinating with Basarnas, the military, harbourmaster and port\nauthority office (KSOP) , local authorities, health agencies and port\noperators,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sumenep police have also asked island fishermen to help monitor the\nwaters and immediately report any victims they find while fishing, he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities received reports that the ferry had lost contact at\naround 2:05 a.m. local time on Sunday, September 13, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary data showed Virgo Transport 8 was carrying about 243\npeople, including 213 passengers and 30 crew members, while sailing from\nSurabaya to Banjarmasin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Transportation Ministry\u2019s release this afternoon, a\njoint SAR team had found and evacuated 114 victims from the Virgo\nTransport 8 accident by Monday,\u201d Sentanu said.<\/p>\n<p>Of those found, 108 people survived, while six died, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 114 victims found, 86 had arrived at Trisakti Port in\nBanjarmasin, South Kalimantan, including 85 survivors and one deceased\nvictim.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 28 victims were still being evacuated to Banjarmasin,\nincluding 23 survivors and five people who had died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTonight, we are also holding a joint prayer for the victims and hope\ntheir families are given strength to cope with this tragedy,\u201d Sentanu\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: High Waves Delay Evacuation of 22 Virgo Transport 8\nSurvivors<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Authority to deploy special forces for Virgo 8\nunderwater search<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Abd Aziz, Rahmad Nasution<\/p>",
