        "content": "<p>The Sumedang Regency Government in West Java is investigating and\nfollowing up on the existence of social media groups allegedly\ncontaining deviant content related to an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,\nand Transgender) community that has gone viral. Netizens were previously\nstirred by the viral spread of a Sumedang gay community on Facebook,\nwhich has thousands of members. The community has several similar groups\nbearing the names of areas in Sumedang, such as Gay Sumedang, Wado,\nCimungkal, Gay Buahdua, Conggeang, Ujung Jaya, and others. Sumedang\nRegent Dony Ahmad Munir stated in Sumedang on Wednesday that the local\ngovernment will coordinate with relevant authorities to verify the truth\nof the information before taking further handling measures. \u201cThe\ngovernment will also follow up and check the circulating information,\nincluding coordination with the Sumedang Police cyber unit and the\nCommunication and Information Office,\u201d he said. If the investigation\nproves there are violations or deviations, the local government will\ntake steps in accordance with applicable regulations. Regent Dony also\nmentioned that this phenomenon needs to be a shared concern and must not\nbe allowed to develop in the digital space because it has the potential\nto affect the social environment of the community, especially the\nyounger generation. He also stressed the importance of strengthening\nmoral and religious education starting from the family as the main\nfoundation in shaping the character of society. \u201cWe need to strengthen\nthe morals, faith, and piety of the community, starting from the family\nas the main foundation,\u201d he said. According to him, the local government\nis also intensifying programme strengthening from the family level and\ninvolving various elements such as the police, relevant agencies, the\ncommunity, academics, the business world, communities, and the media in\nsocial supervision. \u201cSupervision must also be tightened by involving the\npolice, relevant agencies, the community, and academics. Do not let this\nmatter spread widely. Moral and religious education must continue to be\nimproved,\u201d he said.
