Sumedang, West Java \u2014 The Sumedrag Regency Government is accelerating\nthe completion of the final 500 metres of the Ciherang-Kareumbi road,\nwhich spans approximately five kilometres and connects Mekarahayu and\nMargalaksana, to ensure the route reaches 100% stability.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Sumedang on Friday, the Regent of Sumedang, Dony Ahmad\nMunir, stated that approximately 4.5 kilometres of the road section is\nalready in stable condition, while the remaining 500 metres will be\ncompleted promptly based on the specific damage found on-site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis section is approximately five kilometres long. Alhamdullilah,\n4.5 kilometres are already stable, with only 500 metres remaining. God\nwilling, we will complete this soon for the people of Mekarahayu and\nMargalaksana,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dony noted that one of the points that has been repaired is located\nin the Margalaksana Block, specifically on the border of Mekarahayu and\nMargalaksana villages, which previously featured an incline with damaged\nroad conditions that was prone to accidents.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis incline was previously severely damaged and accident-prone.\nAlhamdullilah, it has now been concreted, so hopefully, it will provide\na sense of safety and comfort for road users,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
According to the Regent, the completion of the final 500 metres will\nnot rely solely on concrete construction, as several points will be\ntreated using the hotmix method depending on the extent of the\ndamage.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Sumedang Regency Government plans to widen the road\nshoulders, particularly in incline areas, to allow vehicles travelling\nfrom both directions to pass each other more safely.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause this is an incline, in the future, I will add road shoulders\nso that two cars can pass each other more safely,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The Sumedang Regency Government is also preparing the phased\ninstallation of street lighting (PJU), prioritising areas identified as\nhigh-risk for accidents or crime.<\/p>\n
\u201cStreet lighting will not be installed all at once, but will be\nprioritised at points prone to accidents or criminal activity. This way,\nthe road will become even safer for users,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
The road repairs have received a positive response from the local\ncommunity, who have long awaited improved access and road safety.
