        "content": "<p>The Large-Scale Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) Riau\nreceived a report from PT Satria Perkasa Agung (SPA) Serapung regarding\nan attack by a Sumatran tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) on a resident\nin the dock area of PT SPA Serapung at Teluk Village, Kuala Kampar\nDistrict, Pelalawan District, Riau, on Wednesday 25 February at\napproximately 23:30 Western Indonesian Time. In response to the reported\ntiger attack, the head of BBKSDA Riau, Supartono, dispatched a team to\nconduct field monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>Based on information gathered by the team in the field, the victim,\nnamed Kohai, had been travelling with five colleagues using a boat when\nthey decided to dock temporarily at PT SPA Serapung\u2019s dock since Tuesday\n24 February at approximately 20:00 due to low tide conditions, whilst\nwaiting for high tide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhilst the residents were resting on the boat, a Sumatran tiger\nsuddenly emerged from the land or bushes near the dock and directly\nattacked the victim on the back of the head,\u201d Supartono stated on Friday\n27 February.<\/p>\n<p>The Sumatran tiger attack was witnessed by one of the victim\u2019s\ncompanions, who immediately shouted for help. Security personnel at PT\nSPA Serapung\u2019s dock post who received the information immediately went\nto the location to secure and evacuate the victim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim was subsequently transported using an operational vehicle\nto PT SPA Serapung\u2019s First Aid Post for initial medical treatment,\nbefore being referred to Penyalai Health Centre for further treatment,\u201d\nhe explained.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, according to Supartono, the BBKSDA Riau team, assisted by\nvarious parties, continues to monitor the Sumatran tiger at the incident\nlocation, including mitigation efforts to prevent similar incidents and\nensure the safety of residents in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is urged to remain vigilant, avoid activities in\nhigh-risk areas at night, and immediately report to officers if they\nfind wild animals near residential areas,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
