        "content": "<p>Sultan holds thanksgiving party<\/p>\n<p>A giant traditional offering of fruits and vegetables highlighted<br>\nthe Grebeg Syawal thanksgiving party held by Sri Sultan<br>\nHamengkubuwono X of Yogyakarta for Idul Fitri.<\/p>\n<p>About 10 members of the palace's traditional troop, led by<br>\nCommander GBPH Yudaningrat, carried the two-meter-high offering,<br>\ncalled gunungan jaler, from the palace to the nearby Kauman Grand<br>\nMosque on Tuesday at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>After KPH Ahmad Kamaludin, a Muslim leader from the palace,<br>\nsaid a prayer to bless the offering, hundreds of locals began to<br>\nstruggle to get a piece of the offering.<\/p>\n<p>\"People who manage to get some of the offering will be<br>\nblessed. If they mix the offering with their corps, they will get<br>\na better harvest,\" Ahmad said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the gunungan jaler consisted of various agricultural<br>\nproducts like beans, paddy, vegetables, chilies and shallots<br>\nbecause Yogyakarta is an agrarian region and most of the<br>\nresidents are farmers. -- JP<\/p>",
