JAKARTA (JP): A direct shipping service from Bitung in North
\nSulawesi to Singapore will start on July 15, allowing the
\nprovince's exporters to cut transportation costs, according to
\nAntara news agency.<\/p>\n
The news agency quoted Fenny Wurangian, chairman of the
\ngovernment agency responsible for the management of the Bitung-
\nManado Integrated Economic Zone, as saying on Saturday that a
\nvessel with the capacity of 160 twenty-foot equivalent units
\n(TEUs) would depart from the Bitung port for Singapore twice a
\nmonth starting July 15.<\/p>\n
He did not specify who owns the vessel.<\/p>\n
Thus far, he said, the province's exporters had to send their
\ngoods to Singapore via Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya or Tanjung
\nPriok port in Jakarta. This has raised the transportations costs
\npaid by the exporters.<\/p>\n
The direct shipping service from Bitung to Singapore will cut
