There are currently no airconditioned buses serving the
\nSukabumi-Jakarta route. This is strange because, as a matter of
\nfact, the social mobility of commuters on this route is quite
\nhigh. Many Sukabumi residents work, study or do business in
\nJakarta. If a nice, safe and comfortable means of transportation
\nwere available, they would not have to rent a room or a house in
\nJakarta. They could just commute between these two places.<\/p>\n
At present, only economy-class buses ply between Jakarta and
\nSukabumi. These buses give a poor service and cannot be relied on
\nto transport their passengers between Jakarta and Surabaya
\nquickly. If we choose other means of transportation, like the
\ntrain for example, the service is also poor.<\/p>\n
It is clear, therefore, that airconditioned buses are needed
\non this route. Another benefit of decent buses plying between
\nSukabumi and Jakarta is that it would help boost tourism.
\nTourists frequently complain about our public transport, saying
\nthat buses are not comfortable, too crowded and slow-moving.
\nWorst of all, in the holiday season, buses are usually not
\navailable to the public.<\/p>\n
