Sujiwo Tejo to take part in Mongolia festival<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian musician Sujiwo Tejo will represent
\nthe country at Roaring Hoofs, the First International Gobi
\nFestival of Actual Music, the festival where Eastern and Western
\ncontemporary music meet.<\/p>\n
Apart from Indonesia, musicians from more than 15 countries,
\nincluding China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea and
\nMongolia, will present their unique compositions at the festival,
\nscheduled to be held from June 7 to June 12.<\/p>\n
For the first two days of the festival, the participants will
\ncamp in the Gobi desert and take part in the Desert Concert.<\/p>\n
Sujiwo was recommended from noted musician and chairman of the
\nIndonesian Composers' Association Slamet Abdul Sjukur and
\netnomusicologist Dieter Mack to appear in the festival. He will
\npresent his unique musical arrangement, a blend of Javanese
\ntraditional music and Western music.<\/p>\n
Etnomusicologist Bernard Wuff, also the festival's president
\ndirector, praised Sujiwo's music, referring to the performance as
\n\"magic theater from Indonesia\".<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old Sujiwo, who is about to complete his second
\nalbum, will perform on the fourth day of the international
\nfestival on June 11 at the capital city Ulan Bator. For an hour,
\nhe will present compositions exploring music from the shadow
\npuppet show.<\/p>\n
His first album, Pada Suatu Ketika (Once Upon A Time) was
\nreleased last year and regarded as a new musical experience by
\nmany. Sujiwo, who prefers to be called an entertainer instead of
\nsinger, composed his songs all in Javanese, although many of the
