Sudan-RI university inaugurated<\/p>\n
MALANG, East Java: Indonesian Vice President Hamzah Haz and
\nhis Sudanese counterpart Ali Osman Taha attended here on Sunday
\nthe inauguration of a university that symbolizes the two
\ncountries' close ties.<\/p>\n
Called the Indonesia-Sudan Friendship Islamic University, it
\nis an extension of the Malang Institute of Islamic Studies.<\/p>\n
Taha arrived in Malang after visiting national aircraft maker
\nPT Dirgantara Indonesia in Bandung earlier in the day, where he
\nexpressed his government's interest in buying the company's
\nproducts, the CN-235 and CN-250.<\/p>\n
He said the university in Malang was indicative of the long-
\nstanding ties between Indonesia and Sudan, both of which were
\nmembers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.<\/p>\n
Hamzah said the Sudanese government had cosponsored the
\ndevelopment of the newly inaugurated university.<\/p>\n
On Monday afternoon, Taha is scheduled to meet President
\nMegawati Soekarnoputri at the latter's residence on Jl. Teuku
