        "content": "<p>Subway union postpones strike<\/p>\n<p>SEOUL (AFP): The union of Seoul's metropolitan subway system<br>\nannounced here yesterday that they would postpone any strike<br>\naction to avoid benefiting the ruling camp in the June 27 local<br>\nelections in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>The union, representing 8,745 workers out of 10,872 employees,<br>\nhad said on June 15 they were ready to strike tomorrow after<br>\nfailing to resolve a labor dispute with the management.<\/p>\n<p>Union Chairman Suk Chi-soon said the postponement decision was<br>\nmade because the union would prefer to deal after the polls with<br>\nan elected mayor of Seoul who would be more flexible than the<br>\ncurrent mayor appointed by the central government.<\/p>\n<p>\"In addition, we do not want to adversely affect the election<br>\nresults by strike actions,\" Suk told journalists.<\/p>",
