The Indonesian government's gentengisasi programme, aimed at replacing roofs with tiles on subsidised housing, has been launched in West Java, starting with the delivery of 44,000 tiles to Lippo Group's Hunian Warisan Bangsa project in Purwakarta. This year, the initiative targets 62,500 subsidised housing units, requiring approximately 45 million tiles and presenting a market opportunity worth around Rp100 billion for local tile producers and SMEs. Officials emphasised maintaining SNI-certified quality, boosting industry growth, improving worker wages, and enhancing prosperity for artisans in regions like Purwakarta, Majalengka, and Cirebon.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWAKARTA – The gentengisasi programme, or
replacing house roofs with tiles, has begun in West Java (Jabar). A
total of 44,000 tiles were delivered from the Padi Super tile factory,
located in Pamoyanan Village, Plered Subdistrict, Purwakarta Regency, to
the first-time buyer of Lippo Group’s Hunian Warisan Bangsa Purwakarta
housing.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, along with the Minister of Housing
and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, directly released the tile
shipment from the factory on Tuesday (14/4/2026). PKP Minister Maruarar
Sirait stated that West Java was chosen to implement the gentengisasi
programme due to the availability of tile production support. Besides
Purwakarta, tile producers are also present in Majalengka and
Cirebon.

“We are promoting gentengisasi from West Java in line with the
president’s directive,” said Maruarar.

She mentioned that this year, a target of 62,500 subsidised housing
units will be built. Therefore, these houses will require around 45
million tiles. This presents an opportunity for tile entrepreneurs and
SMEs in West Java to rise again.

Maruarar urged that tile production be maximised while maintaining
quality and obtaining Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification.
“From subsidised housing alone, the market is around Rp100 billion, not
including house renovation programmes and other housing. It’s time for
the tile industry to rise again,” she emphasised.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi added that with the gentengisasi
programme, the tile industry in West Java is expected to grow again.
“Entrepreneurs must improve workers’ wages. The West Java Provincial
Government is ready to provide health insurance. So entrepreneurs will
profit again while workers become more prosperous,” explained KDM, the
governor’s affectionate nickname.

Purwakarta Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein also requested that tiles
produced by artisans from Purwakarta have good quality. He is ready to
assist with the SNI process for free. “The need for West Java is around
12 million tiles, which could reach Rp27 billion. The condition is to
maintain quality with competitive prices and ensure employees become
more prosperous,” he said.

Meanwhile, the tile factory owner, Farid, stated that his factory has
partnered with 72 tile artisans in Purwakarta. “The maximum annual
production capacity is only 3 million tiles. If the capacity can be
maximised, the welfare of workers and traditional tile artisans will
improve,” he said.

Previously, tile artisans only produced two or three times a week
according to customer demand. If the gentengisasi programme runs,
production is ready to be carried out every day.
",
