Subdistrict chiefs demand motorcycles<\/p>\n
MAGELANG, Central Java: As many as 370 subdistrict chiefs
\ndemanded that the Magelang regency administration buy them
\nmotorcycles.<\/p>\n
Head of the subdistrict chiefs association, Hendro D.
\nPurwanto, said on Saturday that the estimated Rp 3.7 billion
\n(US$451,220) budget could be included in next year's regental
\nbudget.<\/p>\n
"With a motorcycle, each of us will be able to do our job more
\neasily," he said.<\/p>\n
Magelang Regent Hasyim Afandi responded to the demand, saying
\nthat it has to be discussed further with the regental council. --

Police to watch over Borobudur Int'l Festival<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: Yogyakarta Police are prepared to provide security
\nfor foreign participants for the Borobudur International Festival
\nfrom June 11 to June 17.<\/p>\n
Yogyakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Sabar Rahardjo said on
\nSaturday that police officers would use a metal detector to check
\nhotel guests and cars to prevent possible bomb attacks at hotels
\nwhere participants will be staying. Security officers will also
\nbe deployed to guard the hotels.<\/p>\n
The police are also working in coordination with the
\nYogyakarta Tourism Board and the Yogyakarta branch of the
